Rumor: The Motorola Droid X will have several nice apps pre-installed

June 20th, 2010

Section: Communications , Cellphones , Cellular Providers , Smartphones Verizon and Motorola will be holding a special press event on June 23 in which the Motorola Droid X will be introduced alongside potential other phones .? As of now, we have already enough about the specs of the latest Motorola Android phone to know that it will be a great phone and definitely be the top Verizon offering.? According to PhoneArena, the Motorola Droid X will be coming preloaded with several important apps designed to make use right out of the box possible.? The preloaded apps include Blockbuster, Skype, Backup Assistant, Motorola Phone Portal, City ID, Visual Voice Mail, Motorola DLNA, FM radio, Swype, and Verizon’s 3G Mobile Hotspot.? The last two apps listed are probably the most interesting and most useful apps for the Droid X.? Basically, Swype is the innovative new way to input text just by sliding your finger across the virtual QWERTY keyboard instead of tapping words.? It is supposed to be faster than the conventional way of typing, but I think that depends on the user and how well he/she is able to adapt to the new way of typing.? Verizon’s 3G Mobile Hotspot is similar to what is offered on the Palm Pre Plus and Palm Pixi Plus; basically it allows you to connect five other WiFi enabled devices to the Droid X, thus making the Droid X act like a portable hotspot.? No word on whether there will be a subscription to use the Mobile Hotspot app, or whether it will be free.? Verizon has not yet confirmed that these apps will be pre-installed, but it certainly makes sense that they will be as they make the phone that much better out of the box.?
