Google is in talks with music labels and aims to introduce its own music service by Christmas, Reuters reports . The company intends offering a la carte music downloads alongside a digital song locker, the report explains. The latter feature would let song owners play their music anywhere. Negotiations have been led by Google’s Andy Rubin (Vice president of engineering)

Facebook has moved to reassure people affected by last weekend’s iPhone scam hack that their account data wasn’t compromised, while Apple’s new Ping service becomes a haven for spammers, according to two separate reports. Facebook’s security team has posted a message on the walls of thousands of users who were hit by the free iPhone scam. The scam saw hackers posting images promoting a free iPhone on their pages. Was security compromised? No, says a note from the Facebook Security Team “For a few hours on Sunday, there was a spamming incident on Facebook. During this time, photos (mostly of supposedly “free” iPhones) were posted to some people’s Walls, including yours. We’ve removed the photo from your Wall and fixed the issue that allowed spammers to do this.

Apple has just released their 3rd preview/beta of their upcoming Xcode 4 software. Hot off the heals of iOS 4.1′s golden master release, this new preview of Xcode 4 includes iOS 4.1 compatibility and a few new features. As always, bug fixes are included. — They’re free! New features include a new activity interface for developers as well as a completely fresh user-interface for the new code completion technologies in Xcode 4. The second preview of Xcode 4 was issued to developers in late July and the first preview was provided exclusively to WWDC 2010 attendees in early June.
