Paris-based WiThings , the company behind the popular Wi-Fi-enabled body scale, has raised 3 million euros, or roughly $3.8 million, from France’s Ventech, the venture-capital firm said on its website . The body scale, WiThings’ first product, started shipping June last year and retails for $159 on Amazon.com . Once you weigh yourself, the scale transmits the data over to its servers, enabling you to track your weight overtime using its Web interface or iPhone app , with an option to broadcast it on Twitter for those inclined. Many people are intensely private about their weight, especially if they struggle with it. But Facebook and Twitter have gotten others accustomed to sharing previously private details. The practice of sharing one’s weight is a component of what some call the “ public humiliation diet ,” a weight-loss program which enlists one’s friends and sometimes the public at large in keeping a dieter on track. The WiThings scale saves its users the trouble of consciously broadcasting their weight by automating the process.

As reported earlier , Mercedes-Benz will be launching a new all-electric version of its entry-level A-Class model dubbed the A-Class E-Cell. This limited production model is being developed together with Tesla and will reportedly make its world debut next month at the 2010 Paris Auto Show. Daimler, the parent company of Mercedes-Benz, formed a partnership with Tesla last year to help accelerate the development of electric vehicles . In the case of the A-Class E-Cell, Tesla is to supply its battery pack and controller technology, which will be shipped to the Mercedes-Benz Rastatt plant in Germany where the A-Class model is built. Few details have been released but the A-Class E-Cell is expected to have a range of about 124 miles and a peak output of 214 pound-feet of torque. The battery pack is a lithium-ion type built of 4,000 individual cells and is rated at approximately 40 kilowatt-hours. Only 500 of the cars are to be built, with deliveries to start early next year as part of a trial.

It’s a busy time for the e-commerce site Etsy , which focuses on handmade arts and crafts. The company announced yesterday that it has snagged $20 million in its fifth round of funding, led by Index Ventures. And just this morning, it was revealed that former Google international executive Adam Freed (pictured to the right) is joining the company as COO, reports All Things Digital’s Kara Swisher . The funding round brings Etsy’s valuation to nearly $300 million (not including the funding itself), according to TechCrunch . Motorola has acquired a new set of app development tools in the form of Y Combinator startup 280 North . A Motorola official confirmed to TechCrunch that Motorola acquired the web-app developer to “help facilitate the continued expansion of Motorola’s application ecosystem.” The deal was reportedly worth $20 million. 280 North developed the Objective-J and Cappuccino app development platforms, designed for those with more limited and focused programming experience. The platforms were showed off in the company’s 280 Slides app. These app development tools could be another way for Motorola to differentiate its devices from other Android phones. Device makers are already trying to do this by developing their own “flavors” of the basic Android operating system, including Motorola’s own MotoBlur.

I’ve not seen this problem myself or heard of it from any of the testers as for random word patterns.. those are actually words from a dictionary, I can switch to a different one and disallow 2 letter words as most do if you would wish the words missing are simply not in the database of 300,000 words I’m planning on switching it up but there are some limitations as to how quickly they can be looked up without killing performance
