September 3rd, 2010 Lialoppocajal No comments

The numbers don’t lie. Third-party developers, who played a large role in Twitter’s early growth and buzz, just don’t matter

Frosmo’s analytics help web sites engage with people, not numbers

September 3rd, 2010 Psychick No comments

The problem with most web analytics is that they give you insight into numbers. You can see how many users are visiting your site, when they do so, and where they are coming from. But you don’t understand anything about them as people. That’s where Frosmo , a Helsinki company originally founded as a tournament gaming company, could prove useful. Frosmo launched its Frosmo World casual game tournament business on Facebook last year.

Big surprise: Spammers find their way into Apple’s Ping social network

September 3rd, 2010 death12 No comments

Now that we’re little more than a day from the launch of Apple’s social network Ping , reports are coming in that spammers are beginning to target the service — surprising no one. The biggest scam right now appears to be an offer for free iPhones which is popping up on many high profile Ping accounts, reports MacRumors . Even though Apple has said that it has 160 million iTunes accounts tied to credit cards, you can also easily create an account without one — which opens the doors for spammers to flood the service. Before Ping, there wasn’t much harm that a spam account could do on iTunes. But now that it has a prominent social element, spammers will quickly become an eyesore. The security software company Sophos weighed in on the issue in a blog post .

Apple’s Ping Social Network hits some growing pains

September 2nd, 2010 durgesh813 No comments

If you jumped into Ping as soon as it was available, like we did , you were able to connect to your friends with Facebook.  That capability soon disappeared, making everyone wonder what happened.   AllthingsD got the story: [Facebook] essentially denied Apple’s Ping access to application programming interfaces that would allow it to search for an iTunes user’s friends on Facebook who also had signed up for Ping. Normally, this API access is open and does not require permission
